BEHIND THE SCENES

Nikoleta Pantechou is a Greek artist and illustrator who studied Fine Arts at the University of Ioannina. Drawn to the occult and tarot from a young age, she developed her distinctive style by blending fantasy with the human form. Through the Stoic Tarot, she reconnected with her passion for philosophy and Stoicism.

Bobby Taslimi is a digital strategist and media expert who began building brands at 24. Inspired by Stoic philosophy and his creative roots, he created the Stoic Tarot deck—a reminder of “Memento Mori,” urging reflection on mortality and the pursuit of deeper meaning over vanity.

GLIMPSE OF KEY CHARACTERS IN THE STOIC TAROT

MARCUS AURELIEUS

Marcus Aurelius was a Roman Emperor from 161 to 180. He was the last of the Five Good Emperors, and is also considered one of the most important Stoic philosophers.

APHRODITE

Aphrodite is the goddess of love, beauty, sexual pleasure, and fertility, often called by numerous other contradictory epithets which often describe the complex nature of love. Most known names are Aphrodite Pandemos is the goddess of sexual desire and Aphrodite Ourania, the one of “platonic love.”

LUCIUS ANNAEUS SENECA

Seneca wrote of love as a strong form of friendship; such relationships, in the context of Stoicism, are to be valued where each participant is concerned with the other’s well- being and development towards virtue. Helping someone live a better and have a mindful life is certainly a virtuous motivation, and therefore friendship and love (seen as essentially a very strong friendship with a romantic component) can be—or rather, if sincere as described, are—virtuous.

ANNIA GALERIA FAUSTINA

Faustina accompanied her husband on various military campaigns and enjoyed the excessive love and reverence of Roman soldiers. Aurelius gave her the title of Mater Castrorum or ‘Mother of the Camp’. She attempted to make her home out of an army camp.

JULIUS CAESAR

Julius Caesar was a renowned general, politician and scholar in ancient Rome. Caesar’s ability to rise through the ranks quickly and to command armies at such a young age are good examples of his natural leadership abilities.

ARISTOTLE

Aristotle was one of the greatest philosophers who ever lived and the first genuine scientist in history. He made pioneering contributions to all fields of philosophy and science, he invented the field of formal logic, and he identified the various scientific disciplines and explored their relationships to each other.

HESTIA

Hestia (/ˈhɛstiə, ˈhɛstʃə/; Greek: Ἑστία, “hearth” or “fireside”) is the virgin goddess of the hearth, the right ordering of domesticity, the family, the home, and the state. Hestia was known to be very gentle and mild. She was kind, forgiving, and content. She chose the life she wanted — a life that did not include marriage or wild adventures. She was able to provide for others and to devote her life to her family and community.
